Cotton
Bowl Weekend
Sorry
it’s been a few days since I last blogged. We have been a bit busy getting my
hubby to leave on a job for 4-8 weeks. It’s like moving him but with just his
clothes. The poor man doesn’t have that many to begin with or at least that is
what I thought until we started packing. He is so stubborn he thinks he can
take everything in 1 suitcase. We are not through so we shall see. It’s going
to be different with him gone as I have not been alone for that long since
8-22-1984. With us being empty nesters I am going to have to find things to
keep me busy or I may go crazy. I will be flying out to see him at one point
and in between I will be working on a baby shower for a sweet dear friend’s
daughter Lauren and a bridal shower for my God Daughter Lauren. Just a thought
Lauren was a popular name back in the 80’s as I have a daughter n law Lauren, 2
friends with daughters name Lauren and then my God Daughter. Guess I might have
to # them to keep track.
However
before we worked and were lazy this weekend watching the Texas and the rain we
went to Aggie land aka The Hayes Family in Willis. My God Daughter went to
Texas A&M as well as her finance and her dad Rick is a big Sooner Fan with
all his brothers so you can only imagine how the night began. Since I didn’t go to school there but both
Lauren my Son Trey love the Aggies I usually hope they win. So from Kingwood to
Willis Larry and I stopped and searched for an A&M shirt to surprise Lauren
with and can you believe we never found one. I was not a happy camper and
neither was Larry for having to stop so much. Guess he really loves me after
all, so I went in my Rockets gear because I do LOVE my Rockets. We had such a
good time with them and their friends Kelly and Darren, the food and drinks were
great even though we had no clue how to make a frozen daiquiri or pina colada.
But put 3 Aggies together and man do they come out Great. Before you think I
thought she was a Christian and she is drinking well “Yes” we are all Christian and as 1 of
the men informed us the Rum goes in the drink; guess we didn’t use what we were
supposed to use so can we say almost virgin drinks. This was all fun however there
was a Bet made between Rick and Debbie made before we all got there. Rick bet
Debbie that if the Aggies lost she would jump in their pool and Rick would jump
if the Sooners lost. Remember we live in Texas and even though we don’t get
snow it does get cold. The outside temp was about 42 degrees and Rick said the
pool 50 degrees. So to this Texas girl that’s cold and I would not want to be
the one to lose. If you watch the news’s you should already know who had to
jump in the cold pool water and it was not an Aggie. It was a blast to egg it
on as Rick was not really happy at all that his Sooner’s lost. Let me set the
record straight he does like the Aggies just not when they play the Sooners.
They were season ticket holders while Lauren was in school. We videotaped it
and took pictures and below are some of them. Hope you enjoy them as much as we
did taking them!!!
Love
you all to the moon and back.
All of us after Rick Jump in the Pool.
Rick not happy the Sooner"s are loosing the game.

Rick coming out of the COLD water and it was not a nice
word coming from his mouth either. LOL it's OK it was not that bad.
